Ghana head coach Otto Addo has stressed the importance of the upcoming friendly matches against Japan and South Korea, noting that he will use the games to assess players yet to have a chance with the national team.
As reported by GHANAsoccernet last week, the Black Stars will embark on a tour to Asia in the November international break.
During the tour, Otto Addo’s men will first lock horns with Japan on November 14 in Toyota during the prestigious Kirin Cup, before travelling to Seoul to face South Korea on November 17.
For coach Otto Addo, these friendlies will form part of his assessment of players ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"You know, we have a lot of good players at the moment, especially up front. It's really, really difficult. And yeah, we have like, eight months to observe, to look, to make the right decisions. We have some friendly games where I hope that a lot of players can show themselves," the Black Stars head coach said after Ghana defeated Comoros on Sunday to conclude the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
At the press conference, the coach admitted that having a lot of top players to choose from gives him a headache.
He, however, is happy that several Black Stars players are excelling at their respective clubs and hopes they continue to shine in the months leading up to the World Cup
"And this is a difficult part for me. But I think this is the best situation for Ghana. Everybody's hungry to go to the World Cup. Everybody's playing out their best. And I hope that the boys keep scoring, keep defending well, and so that they make the decision difficult for me," Otto Addo said.
