The National Sports Authority has disclosed that Ghana's previous World Cup qualifier against Mali generated approximately 1.46 million Ghana Cedis in gate proceeds.
Ahead of Sunday's crucial qualifier against Comoros, NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah revealed the financial details while outlining preparations for the final group match at Accra Sports Stadium.
The revenue from September's Mali game saw 80% allocated to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, with the remaining 20% going to the NSA after deductions for taxes, pitch maintenance, staff allowances, security, and medical services.
Sunday's match is expected to generate even higher revenue as stadium capacity increases to 35,000 fans, up from the 26,000 accommodated during the Mali game when a section was closed for maintenance.
Ghana needs just a point against Comoros to secure World Cup qualification following their emphatic 5-0 victory over Central African Republic on Wednesday.
