Semper Fi will be aiming to secure their first victory of the 2025/26 Access Bank Division One League season when they face Accra Lions on Monday afternoon at the Tuba Astro Turf.
Semper Fi were held to a 1-1 draw by True Democracy in their opening Zone III fixture at the McDan Sports Complex, a result that left both players and the technical team slightly disappointed after a strong performance.
Assistant coach Moses Adjin-Tettey praised his team’s intensity and quality despite dropping points, insisting that the match went largely as expected.
“It was a tough, high-intensity game. We had the chance to take all three points, but one or two tactical lapses allowed the opponent to equalise,” he said. “We’ll make the necessary adjustments and go again. Accra Lions is always a tough opponent, but we are confident we can win.”
Captain Gideon Rockson, who was named Man of the Match, echoed his coach’s sentiments, admitting that small errors proved costly but expressing optimism ahead of the next fixture.
“It wasn’t easy, but we’ll correct our mistakes and come back stronger,” he said.
Accra Lions also began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Attram De Visser Academy, setting up an evenly balanced contest on Monday.
