Asante Kotoko will finally make their long-awaited return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium this weekend when they host Heart of Lions in a Ghana Premier League matchday four clash on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
The Porcupine Warriors began the new season away from their Kumasi fortress, kicking off against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park.
They have since been forced to play their continental fixture against Nigerian side Kwara United at the Accra Sports Stadium due to CAF’s venue requirements. The return leg of that Confederation Cup tie was staged in Abeokuta, Nigeria.
Kotoko’s faithful will now get the chance to rally behind their team on home soil for the first time this season, as Abdul Karim Zito's men look to build momentum both domestically and on the continent.
Matches at the Baba Yara Stadium have historically provided Kotoko with a major psychological boost, and the players will be eager to deliver a strong performance in front of their passionate supporters.
Lions, however, will not be pushovers. The Kpando-based side have shown resilience in recent campaigns and will fancy their chances of frustrating Kotoko on their return to Kumasi.
With the Porcupine Warriors eyeing their first home win of the season in Kumasi, Sunday’s clash promises to be a pulsating encounter under the electrifying Baba Yara atmosphere.
