Ghana defender Alexander Djiku has said his goodbyes to Turkish club Fenerbahce following his move to Russian giants Spartak Moscow.
Fresh after scoring the winner which places Ghana a step to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, Djiku was announced the newest addition to the Moscow-based club.
The defender spent two seasons with Fenerbahce, helping the club twice finish second in the league, only falling short to Galatasaray.
"Two years, a thousand memories... Fenerbahçe, forever in my heart!" wrote the defender on Social Media following his departure.
Meanwhile, he signed a two year deal to join Spartak Moscow and will travel to Moscow on Tuesday to join his new teammates.
"31-year-old Djiku is a product of French football. He came through the Bastia system, from which he moved to Caen, and then to Strasbourg. It was in this club that Djiku began to play regularly in Ligue 1 (117 matches, 3 goals) and from there received a call-up to the Ghana national team, for which he has played 33 matches since 2020 and scored 2 goals. Our newcomer is a participant in the World Cup in Qatar: he played two matches at this tournament,' wrote Spartak announcing Dziku's arrival.
"In 2023, Djiku became a Fenerbahce player. He played 51 matches for the Istanbul club and scored 3 goals. We warmly welcome the Ghanaian defender to Spartak, who will play for the red-and-whites under number four, and wish him success!"
