Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet has sounded caution over Ghana’s firepower as the two sides prepare for a decisive 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday night.
The Black Stars boast attacking talents such as Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Inaki Williams, and Ibrahim Osman.
While these players have struggled for consistency at international level, Saintfiet insists their quality remains undeniable.
“If you look at the quality selected by the current coach, Mr. Addo, it's really a top team. Players at the highest level in Europe. Still, a lot of players were not selected,” he told reporters.
“Mostly offensive, so much quality. You can say we focus on one, but then you miss two or three others who can score goals. Young players, but also one very experienced striker, maybe two very experienced strikers at a high level.”
Ghana top Group I with 16 points after seven matches, one ahead of Comoros, three clear of Madagascar, and four above Mali.
Monday’s clash in Accra could prove decisive in shaping the race for qualification with three games left to play.
