Kwasi Okyere Wriedt has enjoyed many turns in his football journey, but the Ghanaian striker admits not every stop has been easy.
The 31-year-old forward, who now plays for Alemannia Aachen, reflected on his time across Europe and the challenges he has faced in recent years.
Wriedt became a household name during his prolific spell with Bayern Munich’s U23 side. That success earned him moves to the Eredivisie and later the German second division before a brief chapter in Turkey that he now looks back on with regret.
“The six months in Turkey have hurt me,” Wriedt said in a candid interview with Liga3online. He explained that while every decision in his career had been driven by clear plans and goals, not everything worked out. Injuries, timing, and circumstance all played a part.
He was especially critical of his spell in Turkey. “Unfortunately, I have to agree with that. You know that football there isn't as structured as here in Germany or other European leagues. I had certain reservations, and I have to critically examine why I took this step anyway. On the ground, the chaos was even greater than I could have ever imagined. Clubs change their presidents just as quickly as their coaches. Amidst these power struggles, it's virtually impossible to concentrate on the football side of things.”
