Ghana international defender Terry Yegbe is on the verge of sealing a move to French Ligue 1 side Metz, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm
The towering 1.95m defender, who currently plies his trade with Swedish top-flight outfit IF Elfsborg, is expected to undergo his medical in the coming hours after both clubs reached an agreement.
Metz, who sit bottom of the French league standings, are investing 3 million Euros in the 24-year-old, with a further 1 million Euros to be paid in performance-related bonuses.
Yegbe, capped once by the Black Stars, has enjoyed a rapid rise in Europe since joining Elfsborg from Finnish side SJK Seinajoki in early 2024.
His commanding presence at the back, coupled with his aerial strength and tactical awareness, has quickly established him as one of the standout defenders in the Swedish league.
Last season, he featured in Elfsborg’s memorable European campaign, facing top opposition such as Tottenham Hotspur, Athletic Bilbao, and OGC Nice.
In the ongoing campaign, Yegbe has already made 18 league appearances, scoring once and providing an assist.
The move to Metz presents Yegbe with an opportunity to test himself in one of Europe’s top five leagues, as the struggling French side looks to bolster their defence in a bid to climb up the table.
It also represents another step for the Ghanaian in his career progression, and a chance to stake a stronger claim for regular inclusion in the national team setup.
