Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey is 'in the right frame of mind and in top shape' for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, according to Ghana Football Association spokesperson Henry Asante Twum.
Despite reports of a possible omission following his ongoing sexual assault case, Otto Addo named the the 32-year-old in his 24-man squad for the decisive fixtures.
Partey is scheduled to appear in a London court on September 2, just two days before Ghana play Chad in N’Djamena.
“He is in the right frame of mind,” Asante Twum told Asempa FM.
“He is in top shape and so we think that, being a senior player and with his experience, and what he brings to the table, we will need him in these two matches. He is aware [of the court date] but he can come and be part of the team.”
The Black Stars, leaders of Group I after six rounds, will face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4 before returning to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
Partey, who signed a two-year deal with Villarreal this summer, made his second appearance for the Spanish club when he came off the bench in their 5-0 win over Girona.
