Swedish-born Ghanaian youngster Sion Oppong has completed a loan move to Swedish side FC Stockholm from Allsvenskan club IF Brommapojkarna, in search of regular first-team football.
The 17-year-old forward, who signed his first senior contract with Brommapojkarna last winter after impressing in the club’s youth setup, has struggled for playing time in Sweden’s top-flight this season.
The highly-rated attacker will now continue his development in Ettan Norra, Sweden’s third tier, where Stockholm are pushing for promotion.
Oppong expressed excitement after sealing the move, highlighting the ambition and competitive nature of his new club.
“The choice fell on FC because it is an exciting project with many good players and coaches. I hope to contribute with points and offensive qualities,” Oppong told the club’s official website.
Stockholm coach Rikard Norling praised the Ghanaian teenager’s attitude and potential, insisting the club is committed to helping him take the next step in his career.
“Sion is a young and ambitious player who has shown humility and initiative. He has great qualities and we are convinced that he will develop into a truly skilled footballer,” Norling said.
Oppong’s loan move will give him the platform to gain valuable experience and showcase his attacking qualities in a competitive environment, as he looks to establish himself as one of Ghana’s emerging prospects in Europe.
