Former Ghana international Bernard Aryee has expressed disappointment with the performances of the Black Stars, questioning the commitment and competitiveness within the current setup.
The former Hearts of Oak midfielder, who was part of the Ghana team that won bronze at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, said the present generation of players lacks the hunger and internal rivalry that once pushed the national team to greater heights.
“The last time I had the chance to watch the Black Stars, it seems there is no challenge among themselves," Aryee told Adom TV.
"During our time, the competition was tough, so everyone gave their best."
He further noted that while Ghana still boasts individually talented players, the collective drive and team spirit appear to be missing.
“I’m not seeing that fire among the current players. They don’t look serious. Individually, we have good players, but as a team, there is no spirit in it,” he added.
The Black Stars are expected to regroup next month as they prepare for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Chad and Mali.
