
Ghanaian defender Zakaria Takia has completed a move to Jordanian top-flight side Etihad Club Women from Ghana Women’s Premier League outfit Northern City Ladies FC for the 2025/26 season.
The 21-year-old, who has represented Ghana at both U17 and U20 levels, has signed a one-year contract and is expected to bring solidity to Etihad’s defence.
Takia began her career with Tamale Super Ladies in 2019 before joining Northern City Ladies, making over 50 league appearances in Ghana’s top division. Known for her composure on the ball, accurate passing, and quick anticipation, she has been a mainstay in Ghana’s youth national teams, featuring in FIFA U17 and U20 World Cup qualifiers.
Announcing the signing on social media, Etihad described her as a “rising star in Ghana” and welcomed her warmly:
“Zakaria has represented Ghana at both U17 and U20 levels, competing in the FIFA U17 and U20 World Cup Qualifiers. Here’s to solid defences and unforgettable wins⦠Welcome to your new home, our Ghanaian Dragon.”
Takia will now look to make her mark in the Jordanian Women’s Pro League as she takes her career outside Ghana for the first time.
