Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has officially become the new headline sponsor of four national teams.
The was confirmed by the Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Blewett, during a high-profile unveiling of the deal on Thursday in Accra.
Under the two-year agreement, MTN will serve as the headline sponsor for the Black Stars, Black Queens, Black Satellites, and Black Starlets.
The new sponsorship deal is also worth $2 million and will run until August 2027. This will also serve as a support for the teams’ development and preparations.
Speaking at the launch, Blewett highlighted football’s unique ability to unite the nation.
“Football is a passion that connects the whole country, and MTN is proud to be part of the journey to take our teams to greater heights,” he said.
The sponsorship comes at a critical time as Ghana’s national teams prepare for upcoming international competitions.
The Black Queens, who recently claimed the bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, are now setting their sights on the next WAFCON edition and the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
The Black Stars, who failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), are focused on earning a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
Coach Otto Addo and his squad are scheduled to regroup in September for Matchday 7 and 8 qualifiers against Chad and Mali, before wrapping up their campaign with matches against Comoros and the Central African Republic in October.
