
Ghana captain Andre Ayew has mourned the tragic passing of government officials in the military helicopter crash last week.
All eight persons on board including Ghana’s Defense Ministers, Dr Omane Boamah and Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed - Minister for Environment, Science and Technology perished in the plane crash in the Ashanti Region.
Others, who lost their lives included the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong - Vice Chairman, NDC and Mr. Samuel Aboagye - Former Parliamentary candidate and three Ghana Armed Forces crew.
However, Ayew, who joined mourners in Accra on Sunday for prayers in honour of the two Muslim victims has expressed deep sorrow, while extending condolences to bereaved families.
The two Muslim victims were later laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Accra.
“Earlier today His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama led the nation in a solemn farewell at the Military Cemetery for Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed the Muslim victims of the August 6 helicopter crash laid to rest in accordance with Islamic tradition”
“His heartfelt words and the ceremony he organized brought comfort and unity in this time of grief while the National Chief Imam led prayers for the departed It was also a moment to remember Dr Edward Omane Boamah and the five other distinguished individuals who dedicated their lives to serving our nation and tragically lost them that day”
“Being among His Excellency the President several ministers and the bereaved families in this moment of national reflection and mourning was deeply moving. May their souls rest in perfect peace and may their families find strength in this difficult time. Inna Lillahi wa inna llayhi raji'un” he wrote on social media.
Andre Ayew is currently unattached following his departure from Le Havre at the expiration of his contract.
