Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars will face Algerian giants JS Kabylie in the first preliminary round of their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.
The draw, conducted on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, handed the Miners a challenging start to life on the continental stage.
GoldStars will host the first leg in Ghana between September 19 and 21, before travelling to Algeria for the decisive return fixture from September 26 to 28.
If they progress, GoldStars will meet either East End Lions of Sierra Leone or Tunisia’s US Monastir in the second preliminary round. The two sides will first battle in their opening-round tie to determine who advances.
The second preliminary round is scheduled to kick off between October 17 and 19 for the first leg, with the reverse fixture taking place between October 24 and 26.
The aggregate winner will seal a coveted spot in the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
GoldStars earned their Champions League debut after clinching the Ghana Premier League title on the final day of the season â a historic achievement that has set the stage for their first appearance in Africa’s most prestigious club tournament.
