Belgian second-tier club KSC Lokeren have completed the signing of Ghanaian forward Sumaila Wasiu, bringing the 21-year-old on board after a successful trial period this summer.
The former One World Football Academy prospect impressed during pre-season, notably scoring in a friendly match against Dutch side TOP Oss, which helped secure his deal.
Wasiu arrives at the Daknamstadion on a free transfer, having parted ways with Spanish fifth-division outfit UD San Pedro at the end of his contract on June 30, 2025.
His move marks a significant step in his career as he joins the Challenger Pro League for the upcoming season.
Announcing the acquisition, Lokeren stated: “After a successful trial period, including a goal in the friendly against TOP Oss, Sumaila Wasiu has signed with KSC Lokeren. We wish this promising player every success!”
Before his stint in Spain, Wasiu featured for Ghana Division One side Tudu Mighty Jets. While he is yet to earn a call-up to the Ghana senior national team, his move to Belgium is expected to provide him with the platform to showcase his potential on a bigger stage and compete at a higher professional level.
