Kim Lars Björkegren has revealed that he ditched multiple offers to become the head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana.
The Swiss trainer was confirmed as the head coach of the senior women's national team earlier this year.
Björkegren replaced Nora Hauptle, who failed to extend her contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
In his first major tournament, the Black Queens clinched a bronze medal at teh recently ended 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) under the guidance of Björkegren.
"I turned down multiple offers to become the Black Queens' coach," he told Sporty FM.
"The plan is to have a long-term plan for this team, looking at the performance at the WAFCON, and I believe we will be successful in the future," he added.
Björkegren will hope to guide the team back to the WAFCON and also the Women's World Cup, which has been scheduled to be hosted in Brazil.
