David Hickson Gyedu delivered a moment of brilliance that sparked KFUM’s 4-1 rout over Rosenborg in Round 16 of the Eliteserien on Sunday.
The Norwegian-Ghanaian forward thrilled the fans at KFUM Arena with a composed 17th-minute finish after a clever assist from Obilor Okeke.
KFUM came into the match unbeaten in their last three meetings with Rosenborg, and they showed no signs of letting up. Gyedu, starting up front, was a constant threat and earned applause as he left the pitch in the 86th minute after a tireless shift.
Rosenborg found a lifeline in the 53rd minute through a Dino Islamovic penalty, but Okeke quickly restored KFUM’s lead with a brace in the 73rd and 76th minutes. A late own goal from HÃ¥kon Volden sealed Rosenborg’s miserable afternoon.
KFUM dominated possession (58%) and fired 12 shots to Rosenborg’s 4, creating two big chances to the visitors’ none. Gyedu now has three goals and one assist in 14 league games this season.
KFUM face Bryne next on August 10th.
