Andre Ayew has penned an emotional goodbye message to French club Le Havre following his departure.
The veteran forward left the club after two successful campaigns in Ligue 1, helping them maintain their topflight status in both seasons.
"The time to say goodbye has arrived. I hadn't planned to wear this jersey, but the will of the club and its staff convinced me to take on this challenge. Objective achieved in the first season: it was the love, respect, emotions and fighting spirit of the people of Le Havre that pushed me to return for a second," he wrote on social media.
Ayew also expressed gratitude to the club's hierarchy and players for their support during his time at Le Havre.
" Two retentions later, with the feeling of duty accomplished, I would like to thank the club, its directors, the staff, all the daily employees, and of course, my teammates: thank you for the efforts, the highlights, the solidarity and the respect. It was a real pleasure to share this locker room," continued Ayew.
"And above all, thank you to the people of Le Havre. Thank you for your support, your fervor, your high standards too. Thank you for the energy in the good times as well as in the hardest. You are the soul of this club, and you carried me. I pass the baton with pride. Never give up, always move forward. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
The legendary forward is currently unattached and can join a team of his choice in the transfer window.
Ayew previously played for Marseille and Lorient in Ligue 1.
