
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will be proudly represented at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025â¢, set to take place from 17 October to 8 November this year.
A strong lineup of African referees and assistant referees has been appointed by FIFA, underlining the continent’s growing influence in the global officiating arena - particularly in the women’s game.
Among the 18 referees selected from around the World are two accomplished African officials: Josephine Wanjiru from Kenya and Yacine Samassa of Mauritania.
Their inclusion reflects years of dedication, development, and consistently excellent performances in high-profile competitions.
These trailblazing women have become key figures in African refereeing and continue to inspire a new generation of officials.
They will be joined by four assistant referees from across the continent: Egypt’s Yara Atef, Rwanda’s Alice Umutesi, Burundi’s Fides Bangurambona, and Senegal’s Tabara Mbodji.
This talented group further demonstrates the depth and quality of female officiating talent emerging from Africa, a testament to CAF’s focused efforts in referee development and gender inclusion.
The selection of six African match officials to one of FIFA’s flagship women’s tournaments represents a milestone in Africa’s journey toward equality and excellence in football.
