Shayibu Abubakari admits success at Asante Kotoko won't come easy
New Asante Kotoko signing Shayibu Abubakari has acknowledged the challenge ahead of him at the club, describing the move as both significant and demanding. The 21-year-old right-back completed a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors after passing his medical. It wasnt easy, and it will never be easy, to sign for the biggest club in Ghana, Kotoko, Abubakari said.I was very happy when I first heard I had a call from Kotoko. When it started, I was hearing it from people, and I was surprised because I wasnt expecting it.Abubakari joins Kotoko from Karela United and brings valuable experience from his time at Real Tamale United and a brief stint in the Czech Republic with Mlad Boleslav. His addition is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the right side of defence ahead of the new campaign.Known for his pace and attacking drive, the versatile defender can also operate further up the pitch as a winger. He will provide much-needed depth and competition in the squad, particularly with Emmanuel Kotei still recovering from a long-term ACL injury.Abubakari is expected to push fellow right-back Lord Amoah for a starting role in the team.
