WAFCON 2024: Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren speaks on importance of team work ahead of Algeria clash
The head coach of Ghanas Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has stressed the importance of teamwork ahead of his teams quarter-final encounter against Algeria at the 2025 CAF Womens Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).The Queens, after a slow start to the tournament in Morocco, secured a dominant 4-1 win against Tanzania in their final Group C match last Monday to book a place in the last eight stage.Speaking in a post-match interview, Coach Kim Lars Bjrkegren praised his players, stating that playing as a team is very important as his side looks ahead to the next game of the tournament.I am just really proud of the girls. Today, we followed the game plan a little bit more. I always believed that we would win this game and make it to the quarterfinals. I understand the impact of the result. It is the knockout stages, and we continue to take it one game at a time, the coach said.He added, We played as a team and this has been important for us on and off the pitch.Ghana, in the quarter-final of WAFCON 2024, will face Algeria on Saturday, July 19. The match will kick off at 5 pm at the Berkane Stadium in the Oriental Province of Morocco.
