NSA boss pledges support for new Stadia in Ghanaâ??s newly created regions
[caption id=attachment_1248844 align=alignnone width=1000] Yaw Ampofo Ankrah[/caption]Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has reaffirmed the agencys full commitment to supporting the construction of modern stadia in Ghanas six newly created regions, describing it as a long-overdue investment in underserved areas.This comes after former President John Dramani Mahama, during his recent Thank You Tour, promised to revive the NDC governments earlier pledge to build world-class sports infrastructure in the Western North, Oti, North East, Bono East, Savannah, and Ahafo regions.These regions have called themselves the orphan regions for a reason. They believe theyve not had a fair share of the national cake, and during the campaign, His Excellency listened to those cries, said Ankrah.He praised Mahamas renewed leadership and commitment to equitable development, stating that the NSA is ready to collaborate and deliver facilities that meet international standards.Were very inspired by his leadership. Its one of the reasons were also determined to make a mark, Ankrah added.Beyond the new projects, the NSA chief confirmed that existing facilities across the country would also see upgradesranging from re-engineering to full overhaulsto ensure they meet the growing demands of athletes and fans.For the new ones, we will use proven templates and management systems from larger venues to ensure theyre properly run. These regions will no longer feel left out.The proposed stadia are seen as critical to decentralizing sports development and nurturing talent outside the traditional powerhouses of Accra and Kumasi.
