Asante Kotoko are on the verge of securing goalkeeper Mohamed Richard Camara on a fresh contract ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Guinean shot-stopper, who joined the Porcupine Warriors on a two-year deal before the start of last season, has firmly established himself as the clubs first-choice goalkeeper. Camara displaced former number one Frederick Asare and has since become a key figure in the team.
Last season, the 25-year-old featured in 17 Ghana Premier League matches, recording eight clean sheets. He also played a crucial role in Kotokos FA Cup triumph, guarding the posts in their 2-1 victory over Golden Kick FC in the final.
Camara has now agreed in principle to a new two-year contract, which will keep him in Kumasi until 2028, with an official announcement from the club expected in the coming days.
The towering goalkeeper is tipped to be instrumental for Kotoko as they aim to make an impact in continental competitions and mount a strong challenge for domestic honours.
Before moving to Ghana, Camara had spells with AS Kaloum and SOAR Acadmie SC in the Guinean top flight and has earned two senior caps for Guinea.
