Sarfo Duku explains why management decided to centralise accommodation for Kotoko players
Asante Kotoko Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has shed light on the clubs decision to centralise player accommodation amid rising concerns about discipline and player conduct. The move, initially aimed at ensuring comfort and improved team focus, is now under review following allegations by former captain Justice Blay, who claimed that some players have engaged in misconductranging from alcohol abuse to snatching teammates girlfriendswhile in camp.Speaking in an interview with Luv FM, Sarfo Duku defended the original decision, explaining that centralising accommodation was intended to ease the strain of commuting and foster unity among players. The idea of bringing these boys together is to ensure that they have some convenience, he said. The struggle of players having to move from their destinations to training, the traffic, transportation challenges we thought bringing them closer to the training facilities would give them some comfort. He added that the initiative had royal backing from the King of Asante, but the management is now reconsidering its effectiveness in light of the fresh issues. It is an initiative that was endorsed by the King himself but if, upon a second thought, we realise that it would rather go against the club, then we will take another look, Duku stated. The club is expected to conduct an internal review to determine the best path forward ahead of the new season.
