Individualism cost Black Stars' 2025 AFCON hopes - Kwasi Sibo

[caption id=attachment_1249930 align=alignnone width=2560] Kwasi Sibo[/caption]Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo has attributed Black Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to individualistic play.Ghana, a four-time African champions, will not feature at the AFCON for the first time in two decades after finishing at the bottom of its group during the qualifiers.The Black Stars, after six games,recorded three draws and suffered three defeats.Reflecting on why the team failed to qualify for the tournament, which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco later this year, the 27-year-old beleives the lack of bond among the players and the individualistic play cost the team.I watched the qualifiers, and what I realised was that there was too much individuality, but unlike the World Cup qualifiers, Sibo told Asempa FM.You cansee the bond and love among the players now for the World Cup qualifiers, but during the AFCON qualifiers, we did not see that, he added.After the horrendous performance in 2024, the Black Stars made s strong start in 2025, recording back-to-back wins against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.The team went on to place third in the 2025 Unity Cup games in London.
