Daniel Afriyie will strengthen FC Aarau with his Swiss Super League experience â?? sporting director
FC Aarau sporting director Elsad Zverotic says Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh will bring much-needed quality and experience to the club following his arrival from FC Zrich. He has signed a two-year contract following his departure from FC Zrich. The 24-year-old forward moves in search of a fresh start after an underwhelming spell in the Swiss top flight.Afriyie, who previously starred for Accra Hearts of Oak, made 50 appearances for Zrich across all competitions but struggled to secure a regular starting role. His contract with Zrich was terminated by mutual consent, allowing the move to Aarau, where club officials believe his experience at both domestic and international levels can provide a major boost.Daniel is a quick, dynamic player and will strengthen our team with his experience in the Swiss Super League and on the international stage with the Ghanaian national team, said sporting director Elsad Zverotic.Afriyie brings not only club experience but also pedigree from international competition. He has earned nine caps for the Black Stars and was instrumental in Ghanas U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title win in 2021, scoring twice in the final against Uganda.Aarau will be hoping the Ghanaian forward can rediscover his form and help lead their promotion charge.
