Ghana forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh participates in first FC Aarau training

Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has taken part in his first training session with Swiss Challenge League side FC Aarau, following his recent move to the club on a free transfer.The club shared footage of the 24-year-old in action with his new teammates in a video posted on social media on Tuesday.

#JoySports (@JoySportsGH) July 8, 2025Barnieh joined Aarau on a two-year deal after mutually parting ways with Swiss Super League outfit FC Zrich, where he struggled for consistent playing time.His contract with Zrich was terminated earlier this summer, paving the way for a fresh opportunity in Switzerlands second tier.The former Hearts of Oak striker signed for Zrich in January 2023 on a three-and-a-half-year deal, making 50 competitive appearances and registering two goals and four assists.Despite his involvement across competitions, Barnieh found it difficult to secure a regular place in the starting XI.His arrival at Aarau marks a significant step in his efforts to reignite his European career.
