Ghana forward Majeed Waris is one of six players to have been axed from FC Porto team by coach Sérgio Conceição ahead of the season.
The 26-year-old joined the Dragons on loan from FC Lorient during the January transfer window.
And having helped the side to win the Liga NOS, the club made his stay permanent, though he struggled to churn out regular playing time.
However, reports from the club's pre-season base suggest that coach Sérgio Conceição has sent the Ghanaian forward alongside five other players packing after failing to convince him during their pre-season training games.
The rest of the players are Saidy Janko, Ewerton, Oleg Reabcuik, Paulinho and Nigerian youngster Mikel Agu.
Saidy Janko and Ewerton were hired a few weeks ago. They did not convince Conceição. The right back also signed until 2022, coming from Saint Etienne, such as Ewerton, formerly Portimonense.
The cases of Mikel Agu and Oleg Reabciuk are different. The Moldovan left back will return to team B with immediate effect and will have another year of competition in the II League; Mikel, with another three years of contract, again does not convince the coach and will leave.
