Ghanaian born Arsenal starlet Eddie Nketia has stolen the headlines in the English press once again after hitting a double brace for the England U19 side in their 6-0 mauling of lowly-ranked Feroe Islands in the European U19 qualifier.
A goal in the first half and a hat trick in the second completed the historic run for the Arsenal hotshot.
Elliot Embleton and Ben Brereton added a goal each to increase the tally to 6-0.
The Arsenal newsmaker opened the deadlock after 23 minutes when he latched onto a deep pass from Jadon Sancho, turn round his marker in the area before finishing well with his left foot.
The 18-year old increased his tally and England’s to two with an intelligent finish in the 58th minute before Elliot added the 3rd four minutes later.
Nketiah completed his treble from the penalty spot, after Ryan Sessegnon was fouled in the box, intelligently sending the Faroese keeper the wrong way to seal the match ball for himself.
Substitute Ben Brereton then added a fifth with a close range finish, before Nketiah completed the scoring at 6-0 and sealed a fourth goal for himself in the last minute to give Simpson’s men a winning start to their Euro defence.
Nketiah has enjoyed salary adjustment at the North London club since his impressive showing for Arsene Wenger’s men, scoring twice off the bench in their Carabao Cup win over Norwich City.
