
Newly appointed coach of the Black Stars James Kwesi Appiah has implored Ghanaians to back him succeed on his return to the hot seat.
The former Black Stars skipper has been handed an initial two-year contract which is subject to renewal following weeks of search for Israeli coach Avram Grant, who departed the role after his contract with the Ghana FA expired at the end of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
In an interview with South African-based pay TV Super sport, Appiah urged all stakeholders to come on board to help him succeed in the position.
“We have to believe in ourselves and the most important thing is our leaders or FA President having the confidence in us giving us every support they would have given foreign coaches.”
“If we all support our own we will be successful.”
“There won’t be the need to bring someone from outside to do it for us and for that reason we can always open our chest and say this is our own who is managing us and is taking us far, “he added.
