Ghanaian defender Rashid Sumaila helped Al Gharafa beat Al Jaish 2-1 in the Qatar top-flight league at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium on Thursday evening.
Sumaila, who is on-loan from Kuwaiti side Qadsia SC started the game at the heart of midfield where he excelled to the delight of their supporters.
But, the 24-year-old failed to appear in the second half due to a suspected minor injury following a clash he had with Abdurahman Abubakar in the first half as he was replaced by Ali Aden Aden.
Al Gharafa won the match through goals from Al Yahri Othman in the 72nd minute but Ilyas Bakur got his side back in the game. A 93rd minute strike by Abdulaziz Ali won the three points for the Cheetahs.
Al Gharafa maintain their 5th spot on the standings with 40 points from 25 matches.
