Hip-life musician and social commentator, Kwame A-Plus, has expressed his shock following reports suggestion that Ghana’s coach Kwesi Appiah will be paid $35,000 every month as well as ‘other incentives packages’ by GNPC until 2019.
The 56-year-old was named the Black Stars coach on Tuesday in a two-year deal, replacing former Chelsea boss Avram Grant, who vacated his role in February after failing to win the Ghana the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
And, although, Appiah’s salary is 30 per cent less than what Grant was previously entitled to, the multiple award-winning musician believes something must be done about it, suggesting his own remedy in the process.
“So is it true that Kwesi Appiah will be paid 150,000.00 Ghana decision ($35,000) monthly? To win what?” A-Plus posted on Facebook.
“The only arrangement the Ghana FA should have with any coach must be this simple; Pay- per-win. If you win we pay you x amount. If you lose go home and sleep. No monthly salary whatsoever.
“We are tired of wasting money on a [Black Stars] team that has not won even miliki konko in close to 40 years,”he added.
Appiah, who previously coached Ghana between 2012 and 2014, will officially commence his work on May 1 but he is expected in Ghana from his base in Sudan in the coming days, to complete all necessary paperwork.
His first game will be against Congo on August 28, in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in Kumasi.
