
The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Franceville and Port Gentil as the hosting cities for the 2017 African Youth Championship.
The 2017 edition of the biennial tournament was first scheduled to come off in Madagascar between April 2-16 but after the CAF Executive Committee decided to withdraw the hosting right on 12th January and award it to Gabon, the commencement date changed to May 21st-June 4th.
Gabon was selected as the new host country on February 3rd, and at CAF’s 39th Ordinary General Assembly at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa the hosting cities was confirmed.
The Stade de Port-Gentil is a 20,000 capacity stadium located in Port-Gentil, Gabon.
The Stade de Franceville is a stadium in Franceville, Gabon with a 22,000 seater capacity. It was opened in January 2012, in time for its use in the 2012 African Cup of Nations. The opening game was a friendly between Gabon and Sudan.
The Black Stars were based in that city during the 2017 AFCON.
The top four teams out of Angola, Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger and Tanzania will qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
