Accra, June 28, GNA - Prophet Patrick Serlom, General Overseer of the Salvation Grace Chapel International, has called on political parties to desist from discrediting the usefulness of the Free Senior High School.
He said the policy is one of the best social interventions introduced by the NPP Government and must be supported to increase enrolment in senior high schools.
Prophet Serlom made the call on Friday at the launch of the church’s seventh anniversary at Pantang, near Adenta in Accra.
Some of the activities planned for the celebration which is on the theme: ‘A City Built on the Hill Cannot Be Hidden’ include: donation, clean-up exercise gospel rock show, games and thanksgiving service.
Prophet Serlom said the policy would not only increase enrolment but would also help eradicate the high rate of illiteracy in the country.
He said the issue of education must be a priority to stakeholders if “we want to witness productivity.
‘’Let us channel our opinion rather on how to sustain the policy for future generation’’.
Prophet Serlom said the church as part of its social responsibilities, has over the years been offering scholarship to the brilliant but needy students to undertake education up to the senior high school level.
Prophet Serlom said the church would soon launch a vocation education campaign to offer the youth vocational training to make them self-reliant.
