Accra, April 2, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a mason for allegedly robbing a pastor and a businesswoman with a kitchen knife.
Baba Musah, 24, denied the offence and will reappear in court on May 15 to enable prosecution to file all necessary documents and serve same on the accused or his counse.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the Court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the complainants Pastor Yaw Domey and Madam Patience Adzimahe live at Ashongman Estates, whilst Musah also lives at Narhman, all in Accra.
He said on March 20, this year, at about 0500hours, Musah armed with a kitchen knife attacked Madam Patience, who was on her way to board a car, and took her handbag.
The Prosecution said the bag contained two mobile phones, a passport, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card, a pair of spectacles and other personal effects.
He said Musah also took away a cash of GH¢5,000.00 and 100,000 CFA, which were all in the bag.
The Prosecution said at a short distance, Musah then attacked the Pastor who was also on his way to board a bus, robbed him of his bag containing a Holy Bible and an identification card.
Mr Tenkorang said in the process Pastor Domey held onto his bag but Musah pushed him and he fell.
He said Musah took to his heels with the bag, leaving behind his pair of slippers and the knife.
The Proseution said the exhibits were picked by the complainants and a formal report was made by them at the Kwabenya Police.
Chief Inspector Tenkorang said during investigations, Musah was traced two days later to an uncompleted building.
He said a search in his room revealed the bag containing the Holy Bible, the phones, the passport, NHIS card, the personal effects of Madam Patience as well as 80,000 CFA.
He said Musah admitted the offence in his cautioned statement and was arraigned.
Mr Yaw Dankwa, counsel for the accused in praying for bail said, the prosecution was inconsistent with its facts because it said 100,000 CFA was stolen but retrieved 80,000 CFA and that he would prove the client’s innocence at the appropriate time.
