Accra, April 02. GNA - Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS), will be the special guest at the opening ceremony of the 6th Congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), in Accra, on Thursday, April 4, at the Accra City Hotel.
The 6th AIPS Africa Congress, which is expected to bring together Journalists from over 25 countries, is being hosted by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), as part of activities marking its 50th anniversary celebrations.
A statement signed by Mr. William Dodzi Ezah, Secretary-General of AIPS Africa and General Secretary of SWAG, said Mr. Asiamah, would give the key note address at the opening ceremony and also officially open it for business.
The statement said, the opening ceremony would also be attended by the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi and the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah
The Congress, which forms part of the Associations 50th Anniversary celebration would provide a platform for the crème de crème of sports personalities in the country to discuss and deliberate on the way forward for African sports men and women as well as sports development.
Also in attendance, would be Mr. Chuka Momah, a life patron of AIPS Africa, a member of AIPS and former president of Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).
At least, 50 delegates from around Africa would participate in the three-day congress that is expected to be sandwiched with expert presentations and discussions on contemporary issues on sports media, administration and hosting of some sporting events.
Among the topics up for discussion are "When Will Africa Be Ready to Win The FIFA World Cup, How Bold is Africa’s Gold Chase at Tokyo 2020, Africa Games and the future and The New Sports Journalism in Africa – Finding The Right Mix”.
