Accra, Nov.14, GNA - Deutsche Welle (DW) and Joy News have held a youth forum at the Accra International Conference Centre, aimed at giving a voice to Africa’s Youth to help drive the needed change on the continent.
The forum dubbed ''77% speaks to 23%”, offers a platform for the 77% of Africa's Youth, who fall below the ages 35, to engage the older generation, who constitute the 23%, with regards to the role of the youth in government, business, planning and developing social thinkers.
Mr. Peter Limbourg, Director General of DW, in his address at the forum, said the partnership with Multimedia was significant as it would help pursue the agenda of giving the youth of Africa a voice.
''The 77 per cent represents the future of Africa, and it's up to this 77 per cent to change the continent and the society and make it a better place. They have to change it even if the 23% don't like it, '' Limbourg said.
He said ''the 77 per cent are those who have to rid corruption from our society and work for a better environment, considering the creativity and dedicated spirit to change your country and the continent as a whole.''
He also stressed on how their journey across the continent has demonstrated the prowess of the Africa Youth, who are gradually shaping the continent with their ideas and explained how the platform will help Africa's Youth to exchange ideas.
The interaction session, saw discussants engaging the youth in debates on issues on unemployment, entrepreneurship and Politics, among others.
