Accra, Nov. 14, GNA - The MTN Ghana Foundation has launched the fifth edition of the MTN Heroes of Change in Accra.
The programme, seeks to reward individuals, who have touched lives and contributed to the improved well-being of the less privileged in society.
Season five would focus on core areas, which includes health, economic empowerment, and education, with the ultimate winner receiving a whopping GH¢100,000, while category winners would receive GH¢30,000.
Special category winners will also receive GH¢10,000 each.
Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Ghana, reiterated the importance of celebrating personalities, who were impacting the social change of the country and assured of a continuous investment in the program.
"The MTN Heroes of Change over the years, has consistently shown the Ghanaian potential to transform his community, if he sets his mind to it.
"To us as a business, nothing is more inspiring than to see our vision of being an enabler of societal change being replicated in our communities through the works of these heroes,'' Adadevoh said.
He revealed the mission of the project, which was to brighten the lives of those who are also touching lives in their own small way.
Winner of Season four, Naomi Esi Amoah, in address at the launch, showed appreciation to MTN for the sustainability in her orphanage home, which has transformed over the past few months, as MTN continue to render continuous support to children at the orphanage home.
Dr Doris Yaa Dartey, a Communications Consultant and a member of the three-person jury, said the jury have come across profound stories since the inception of the program back in 2013 and the stories clearly demonstrated the true heart of the Ghanaian people, as they were committed in getting the right persons to annex various awards.
Nominations for Season five of the awards are currently opened with January 18, 2019 being the set deadline for receiving nominations while the main awards ceremony night is billed for June 14, 2019.
