Accra, Aug. 20, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Aplaku, near Bortianor, in the Greater Accra Region over the weekend, celebrated their annual Homowo festival with a call on Government to provide the community with infrastructure such as roads, market, school and pipe-borne water.
Nii Nikwei Aplaku, Chief of the area, made the call when he was joined by other elders of the town, and clad in their traditional rich regalia to sprinkle ‘Kpokpoi”, a traditional meal throughout the town and some sacred places.
Nii Aplaku called for peace and unity among the chiefs for the development of the community.
He urged the chiefs to bury their differences and desist from engaging in chieftaincy feuds, which he said, was derailing the wheel of progress in the community.
He commended government for the free SHS policy and the double track system, saying that, it would enable many students to enter senior high schools.
This year’s celebration was peaceful, attracting indigenes from far and near, as well as local and foreign tourists to witness the town’s rich and colourful culture.
