Farmers honoured in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai

Akaaso (WR), Nov. 02, GNA  - Twenty-eight  farmers in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District were on Friday, recognized at a ceremony held at Akaaso, for their contribution to the development of agriculture in the area.     Mr Oppong Nkrumah, 55, was adjudged the overall best farmer and for his prize, he carried away a tricycle, cutlasses, pair of wellington boots and a certificate.    Other award winners received refrigerators, gas stoves, television set and agricultural inputs.    Mr Joe Adansi Bonda, the District Chief Executive (DCE), encouraged them to form organizations to enable them to resist cheating by middlemen.    He said farmer-based-organizations could play a key role in tackling bottlenecks in the marketing of agricultural products.    He urged the award winners to sustain their hard work and urged them to take advantage of the expertise of agricultural extension officers to boost crop yield and returns.   GNA ...
