

Members of the Public Interest Accountability Committee have elected Mr Richard Ellimah as their new Chairperson for the next one year.
The Civil Society Organisation (CSO) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) representative takes over from Mr Constantine K. M. Kudzedzi, a lawyer representing Christian groups on the committee.
Mr Ellimah is a community activist, a development planner, and natural resource governance analyst with almost two decades of experience, particularly in Ghana’s natural resource space.
The PIAC secretariat announced the change in leadership in a press statement.
Also elected was a biomedical scientist, Mr Edward Yaw Afriyie, who represents the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI).
He was elected as Vice Chairperson to serve a one-year term. He takes over from Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII, a former PIAC member.
Commenting on his election, Mr Ellimah expressed appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in him.
“He pledged to build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessors to fulfil the mandate of PIAC in promoting transparency and accountability in the management and use of petroleum revenues,” the statement highlighted.
Days earlier, the Coordinating Director, Technical at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Samuel Arkhurst swore-in five members of PIAC on behalf of the Minister.
The members are Mr Christopher Opoku Nyarko – Ghana Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI), Ms Sena Dake – Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), Mr Zamboanga Rufai Saminu – Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Ms Veronica Adigbo – Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and Nana Soglo Alloh IV – National House of Chiefs.
