

Mr Gabriel Antwi, the Bono Regional Director of Education on Monday says quality education is not about certification, and urged teachers to redouble their efforts, unearth and nurture potential of learners.
He emphasised that building the potential of learners would enable them to grow to become responsible adults and contribute to developing a better society for all.
Mr Antwi gave the advice when speaking at the inauguration of the University of Energy and Natural Resources Basic School in Sunyani.
He said learners could grow to become assets, only when teachers and educators in general prioritize and build the inherent potential and talents in them, asking teachers to do more to help mould the learners responsibly.
Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboah, the Bono Regional Ministers commended the management of the university for their efforts in promoting quality education at all levels and asked the basic school to adopt the culture and maintain the facility.
The Regional Minister who inaugurated the facility said with the UENR basic school, he was highly optimistic that more learners would access quality education.
Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako, the Vice Chancellor of the UENR indicated that the institutions remained focused on their journey of becoming a world class university along with its basic schools.
He said the basic school was established on September 12, 2017, with only 38 boys and 37 girls with six dedicated female teachers, three attendants, nine national service personnel.
Prof Asare-Bediako said the school had graduated two batches of the Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) with all the batches obtaining 100 percent in the examination.
He expressed appreciation to the management, teachers and non-teaching staff of the school for their hard work and urged them to remain innovative in building the potential of the learners.
Mr Anthony Asamoah, the Headmaster of the UENR Basic School said learners’ enrolment kept increasing and called on stakeholders’ support towards the construction of a new classroom block for the Junior High School.
He said presently the school had 1,200 learners and commended the university authorities for improving infrastructure development of the school.
