

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Wednesday charged the new governing board of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to work collaboratively with stakeholders to reposition Ghana as a competitive and attractive tourist destination.
Speaking at the official inauguration ceremony in Accra, Madam Gomashie emphasised the board’s pivotal role in shaping forward-thinking policies, championing innovation, and enhancing the tourism sector’s contribution to national development.
The board was expected to play a crucial leadership role in aligning policy with national aspirations and promoting sustainable tourism development across the country, the minister said.
She urged members of the board to remain steadfast and committed to the advancement of Ghana’s tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors.
Madam Gomashie expressed appreciation to the President for appointing this caliber of people as board members for the GTA governing board to assist running the sector. “I know you will work to justify the confidence reposed in you.”
The newly sworn-in board comprises individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, including: Madam Getrude Emefa Donkor, Mr Yussif Isaaka Jajah, Mrs Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo Houadjeto, and Mr Kwame Adu Darko Okyere-Mansuo.
The rest are Mr Samuel Seth Passah, Mr Joseph Osiakwan, Madam Suweibatu Adam, Madam Afi Amoro, Mr Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah, Madam Bella Kokoe Ayayee Ahu, and Mr Darison Baba Al-hassan.
Madam Suweibatu Adam, speaking on behalf of the board members, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the confidence reposed in them and reaffirmed their dedication to making a meaningful impact in the tourism and creative arts landscape.
The ceremony was graced by Directors from the Ministry, led by the Chief Director, Mr Joseph Kwasi Amoah, as well as key stakeholders and representatives from the creative arts community.
