


Today, Wednesday August 6, 2025 is a Black Wednesday as Ghana has been thrown into mourning following the death of eight of its citizens – two of them ministers of state who were travelling in a military helicopter.
The eight were killed in a helicopter crash that happened in the Adansi Area of the Ashanti Region while they were onboard heading to a national assignment in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
They include Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.

The others are Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, who was a former Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Dr Samuel Sarpong, the Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a former Ashanti Regional Minister.

The rest are Mr Samuel Aboagye, a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The incident has shocked the whole country, leaving Ghanaians from all walks of life in grief.
The bodies have so far been retrieved from the crash scene,
