Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, is angry with former President John Agyekum Kufuor over his endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the upcoming general elections.
Expressing his discontent, Kyerematen emphasized that he possesses more innovative ideas than the NPP flagbearer and boldly claimed that 70 percent of policies implemented during Kufuor’s administration were based on his own concepts.
The disagreement stemmed from Kufuor’s public appeal to Ghanaians to throw their support behind Dr. Bawumia in the December polls as he hailed him as the best candidate to lead the nation amidst current global challenges.
In response to Kufuor’s endorsement, Kyerematen, who broke away from the NPP with some disgruntled individuals to form the Movement for Change strongly criticized the move during an appearance on Oyerepa TV on Monday, November 18, arguing that such actions undermine the expected impartiality of a statesman.
Expressing disappointment in Kufuor’s decision, Kyerematen highlighted that the endorsement not only tarnished Kufuor’s political reputation but also triggered a wave of criticism and insults directed towards the former president.
Despite acknowledging Kufuor as his uncle and refraining from public discord, Kyerematen stressed the negative impact of Kufuor’s political stance, cautioning against further involvement in partisan politics.
