The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has ridiculed the opposition National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) ambition to secure 35% of the votes in the Ashanti Region in the upcoming 2024 general elections, describing it as “wishful thinking”.
Speaking at the launch of the NPP’s Ashanti regional working committee and women’s conference on Sunday, Kodua expressed confidence in the strong leadership of Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias ‘Wontumi’, to deliver victory for the party.
Kodua also charged the Women’s Wing of the party to showcase the government’s achievements through their campaign activities, emphasizing the importance of proof of work to convince Ghanaians to vote for the NPP.
In a stern warning, Kodua threatened to “name and shame” party appointees in the Bono Region who fail to connect with their constituents, citing a troubling disconnect between them and their grassroots.
The event, attended by key party figures, including former Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and Chief of Staff Frema Akosua Osei Opare, marked a significant moment in the NPP’s preparations for the 2024 general elections, with the party expressing confidence in its ability to maintain its dominance in the Ashanti Region and beyond.
Kodua also announced a donation of GHC100,000.00 to support the women’s wing’s campaign activities, highlighting the crucial role women play in the NPP’s electoral strategy.
