Teddy Safori Addi
The Opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Member of Parliament for Ayensuano in the Eastern Region, Teddy Safori Addi, has fully endorsed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s significant move towards bolstering Ghana’s infrastructure for outdooring the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
The president commissioned the essential earth-moving equipment at the Black Star Square on Wednesday.
The DRIP Initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s road network, marks a pivotal milestone in the Akufo-Addo-led government’s ongoing efforts to decentralize development and improve the quality of life for Ghanaians.
Interestingly, in a smart move to steal a political score, the NDC MP, Teddy Sarfori Addi, who is active on social media on Wednesday, stormed Independence Square and stood beside the tractors to take videos.
He quickly started running commentary that his efforts were part of the procurement of the earth-moving machines to tackle the poor road network across the country.
He then shared the videos on his constituency platforms. The motive was to tell the constituents that he and his colleague MPs in Parliament made the efforts to get the machines procured by the Akufo-Addo-led government, hence urging the constituents to have confidence and vote for him come 7th December.
In a desperate attempt, the MP allegedly peddled falsehood that the earth-moving machines were bought with the MPs’ Common Fund by the Akufo-Addo-led government.
The machines were bought with DACF Contingent Funds and not the MPs’ Common Fund.
The NDC lawmaker, Teddy, who fears losing his seat to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Ida Adjoa Asiedu, in the video emphatically praised the Akufo-Addo-led government for bringing the machines to tackle the deplorable roads in the Ayensuano Constituency.
Mrs Ida Adjoa Asiedu, even before she was elected as the Parliamentary Candidate for the area, has been reshaping some of the roads with her funds, aside those that have been given on contract by the government.
The NDC MP, who is not happy with the projects being undertaken by the NPP Candidate has also been moving around and telling the constituents that he has undertaken such projects to take credit.
The DRIP is designed to empower Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the necessary resources and equipment to rehabilitate and maintain roads within their areas.
The initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to decentralization, providing local authorities with the tools to effect meaningful change.
A comprehensive fleet of 2,240 pieces of equipment, including motor graders, backhoes, rollers, wheel loaders, bulldozers, tipper trucks, concrete mixers, water tankers, and low beds, were outdoored and given to the Assemblies.
These machines are expected to play a crucial role in the nationwide improvement of road infrastructure.
