Abesimhene, Nana Kumi Acheaw III (in cap) participating in the clean-up exercise
Hundreds of residents, including members of the Abesim traditional council led by the chief of the area, Barima Kumi Acheaw III, and the queen mother, Nana Ama Konama Biyaa II, took part in a clean-up exercise last Saturday to rid the town of filth.
The initiative, which commenced at 6am from the boundary between Sunyani and Abesim right to the Abesim township, saw the participation of notable individuals such as the queen mother of Dormaa Traditional Area, Odeneho Akosua Fima II, NDC parliamentary candidate for Sunyani East, Seid Mubarak, and fire service personnel.
During the exercise, residents and the chief engaged in weeding shrubs, grass cutting, and tree trimming along the shoulders of the Kumasi-Sunyani highway.
They also cleaned and disinfected gutters while picking up polythene bags that littered the roads, transforming the area from an eyesore to a clean environment.
Addressing his subjects after the exercise, Barima Kumi Acheaw III emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings and avoiding the indiscriminate disposal of rubbish.
He stressed that cleanliness is a state of purity and clarity, noting that the provision of dustbins at strategic locations is intended for litter disposal, and those who violate this rule will face consequences.
He further highlighted that it is Dormaahene Nana Agyemang Badu’s vision to ensure cleanliness across all traditional areas under his jurisdiction, urging everyone to uphold cleanliness standards.
Dormaahemaa commended Abesimhene for his vision and for leading by example, expressing gratitude for his commitment to improving their community.
