Global Citizen partners with Ghanaian NGOs to support livelihoods in Ghana

Global Citizen, a non-governmental organisation, has partnered with five Ghanaian-based NGOs to support the livelihoods of individuals and communities in Ghana.

The partner NGOs include the Alliance for African Women Initiative, Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights, DeKalb Center, Lilies of the Field, and Living Stone Foundation.

During a discussion on Traffic Avenue on Citi FM, the Vice President for Global Policy and Strategic Relationship at Global Citizen, Liz Agbor-Tabi disclosed the partnership and highlighted its significance

According to her, the selected NGOs align with Global Citizen’s focus on healthcare, maternal child health, women’s reproductive health and rights, and capacity building for young people.

Ms Agbor-Tabi also revealed that her outfit is also launching an initiative called ‘Move Afrika’ in Ghana, aimed at creating employment opportunities and driving economic growth in Africa’s entertainment sector.

“We selected the five NGOs based on their catchment area, the catchment areas that they serve here in Accra as well as across the nation, with a particular emphasis on healthcare, maternal child health, women’s reproductive health and rights, and the ability to provide capacity building, training, upskilling to young people.”

“Our Move Afrika initiative, which is what we’re launching, which we’re going to be launching here in Ghana, is really an Africa-specific initiative, which is focused on supporting entrepreneurs, providing economic opportunity for young people, and providing the upskilling and training and capacity building that is required for young people to be able to contribute to this creator economy.”

“We are excited to return to Ghana and launch this initiative, which will have a lasting impact on the continent. We believe that by empowering young people and supporting the entertainment industry, we can derive positive change and create a brighter future for Africa.”
